Weekly Hours:

35 hours per week for 7 Weeks

Meghan Rubia - Office Administrator/ Mike Bugden – Business Manager

 

 

General Description:

The Sports History & Awards Assistant will coordinate with Sport Alliances Business Manager and Office Administrator to provide the necessary support to maintain and upgrade the Sports Hall of Fame/Sports History display. The successful applicant will be responsible for extensive research in past sporting history, contacting appropriate resource people, and updating the current material on display.

 

In addition, the Sports History & Awards Assistant will be expected to collaborate with other summer employees to ensure cohesiveness in all current programing and special events of the organization.

 

 

 

Essential Duties:

The Sports History & Awards Assistant position will include, but not limited to:

  • Clerical duties such as answering phones, filing documents, and circulating information.
  • Planning meetings, scheduling appointments and interviewing subjects willing to participate in contributing to the Sports Hall of Fame.
  • Prepare interview questions and recruit interview subjects.
  • Maintain accurate records of data and interviews.
  • Write and edit material for publication and presentation.
  • Prepare progress reports and attend weekly meetings.
  • Organize, maintain and update website materials.
  • Prepare materials for display in the Sports Hall of Fame.
  • Prepare databases, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Collaborate with other employees to ensure success in all programs and special events.
  • Support and assist in fundraising events.
  • Build relationships with all related volunteers and officials.

 

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be organized, with attention to detail, and have the ability to successfully multitask.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills are expected with proficiency using the MS Office suite of software products.
  • Previous employment experience in a research related position is considered an asset.

The Sport History and Awards Assistant position is in partnership with Service Canada under Canada Summer Job’s program.The applicant must have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year and must be returning to school on a full time basis in the fall (High School or Post-Secondary).
