2017 Student Work and Service Program (SWASP)
Applications Available Friday, May 12
Deadline Friday, June 2
The Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador, with financial support from the Government of Canada, is pleased to announce that community service placements will be available to nonprofit organizations and youth this summer. There will be some program changes which sponsoring organizations should be aware of:
-
Because participants receive a tuition credit voucher and a cash stipend, SWASP students should not be placed in similar jobs as those who are compensated by wages, including other summer wage programs.
-
Community service placements may not be considered essential to the nonprofit organization. They will not replace or duplicate the duties of any organizational employee.
-
Because of these changes, organizations may need to be more creative in creating placements to engage groups of youth in tasks supplementary to their normal operations.
To discuss, we will hold 3 information sessions.
