MOUNT PEARL SCHOOL OF MARTIAL ARTS

For the past 19 years, the MPSMA (operating out of O'Donel High School Gym in Mt. Pearl) has been delivering the very best in martial arts instruction. Our instructors are selected on the basis of their skill and achievement in martial arts, as well as their ability to effectively relate their knowledge and understanding to students of all age levels and backgrounds. Our instructors continuously undergo advanced training in self-defense skills and keep abreast of the latest teaching methods. We have provided a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) at the bottom of this page.

At the MPSMA we are not only interested in fighting and grappling skills but in the development of each person as a whole. As Bruce Lee once said, "these are the tools of everyday life, what you learn here, you can apply elsewhere..." Nowhere is this more important than in our children's' classes where we realize that we must embody the very same principles that you as parents are trying to instill in your children.

Although some of our techniques are based on centuries old knowledge, it is our application of that knowledge that sets us apart. We realize that each of you possess different natural abilities; size and strength will vary from person to person. That is is why, once you have acquired a strong foundation and ability in the basics, our program is individualized to match your physical capabilities in order to maximize your self-defense skills. Should the need ever arise you will possess a firm understanding of exactly what it takes to both mentally and physically defend yourself or your loved one.

The martial arts were originally aimed towards life preservation and self-defense, but today people come to us from all walks of life, each with their own set of reasons for wanting to train at the MPSMA. Some want to learn self-defense, others want to fight in tournaments, some seek to become physically fit and others just want to have fun. Whatever the reason you chose, you will find others just like yourself studying at the MPSMA.
